does nationality (even within Europe) really change how people perceive you that much? La nacionalidad (incluso dentro de Europa) realmente influye tanto en cómo te perciben las personas?
English: hello, this is not been to offend anyone but I’m just curious about other people’s experiences. I’m from another European country and I am fair-skinned. I was in a relationship with a guy from Murcia for about 3 years. During that time, he would constantly refer to me as “guiri” and even “immigrant,” sometimes jokingly, but it always felt a bit off to me.
We eventually broke up because he said he wanted to see other people, etc. Recently, during Semana Santa celebrations, I ran into him again. He now has a new girlfriend. I saw them together, and he came over to say hi to me.
Out of curiosity (and maybe a bit of frustration), I asked him if he calls her “guiri” or “immigrant” too. He replied: “Of course not, she’s Italian.”
That response honestly confused me especilly when I am literally from a country just above Italy lol.

Al final rompimos porque dijo que quería salir con otras personas, etc. Recientemente, durante las celebraciones de Semana Santa, me lo volví a encontrar. Ahora tiene novia. Los vi juntos, y él se acercó a saludarme.
Por curiosidad (y quizá también un poco de frustración), le pregunté si a ella también la llama “guiri” o “inmigrante”. Me respondió: “Claro que no, ella es italiana”.
Esa respuesta sinceramente me confundió aún más, especialmente cuando yo soy literalmente de un país justo encima de Italia..
