Leicester City

From winning the PL to relegation to League One a decade later. Leicester City’s story should be treated as a cautionary tale.

Their situation shows how some bad luck mixed with poor decision making, awful recruitment and a lack of strong leadership quickly creates a toxic cocktail.

You can and will destroy a football club if you run it poorly.

Marinakis should heed the warning.

Igor Jesus

Igor was a key part of our second half resurgence.

All the plaudits will rightly go to MGW. But Jesus’ energy and endeavour lifted the whole team. He was involved in 3 of the 4 goals in one way or another and we looked much more of a threat with him on the pitch because of his positioning and his high work rate.

I find the criticism he gets from time to time to be a bit strange and misguided. Admittedly, he tends to come too deep to try and get involved in certain games where those around him haven’t done enough to create or bring him in to the match. But in general he leads the line really well and wins many headers that taller and more physical players don’t necessarily. Moreover, 13 goals is a decent return in a side that has endured a chaotic campaign marked - above all else - by mismanagement at the top of the club.

Plenty of Edu’s summer signings deserve criticism, but Jesus as a young man in his first season in the PL and playing in Europe has served us admirably and his all round performances deserve more credit than he has received.

How different the season might have been had we been able to rotate Wood and Jesus more - and indeed pair them as today when chasing a goal.

Well done Igor.
