Is it a realistic goal for me to compete provincially at 21 with little prior training?
I’ve been playing consistently for about 3-4 years. I started playing when I was 10, I would play once a week recreationally and this is what got me into the sport. Around Covid time I stopped playing for 1-2 years and picked it up again when I was 17 or so to play for my high school team. Since then I’ve been playing consistently, I played for my University team where I trained for a year. After that I’ve played in a lot of local clubs where I’m viewed as a good player, not great, not the best, but solid player who’s amongst the better players in the community. This should help gauge where my skill level is. I want to spend some time actually training and focusing on badminton, I want to try and compete provincially. I don’t expect to win or even compete at higher levels, even low level C tournament just to have to skills and experience of competing at a somewhat high level.
For the record I live in Ontario. Do you guys think this is achievable or will the players I compete against just outclass me? I want to know this before I spend a lot of time and money on training.
