I've recently become obsessed with the Q7 while looking for a possible replacement for our trusty CX-9. My wife wants more features and finding a newer, higher-trim CX-9 is proving very difficult. Looking outside of a CX-9, the Q7 fits the bill, allegedly.

I currently have my eye on a 2019 Prestige with the features we like. It has 41k miles, and looks to be in very nice shape, along with well maintained. Carfax shows no accidents/frame damage.

When we go test drive, what should I be looking for? What are some recommended maintenance items to address now? I see complaints on here that their 3.0T died or burns lots of oil. If we get the carbon cleaning service done, does that help alleviate the oil consumption problem?

I'm just curious what owners have done to keep their 3.0T running good. I hear that this engine is solid but I also hear the opposite. I understand this will need more attention than a Japanese crossover but I also feel like it is much more reliable than a land rover or even a BMW.

The dealer that is selling the vehicle in question, has a lifetime powertrain warranty on majority of their vehicles, including this one. That might be part of the reason I am considering it too. Lol

Thanks for any help and hoping to join the club soon!
