Age old question & no solutions seem to land.

Okay, I feel retar--d for asking because I feel like I should know.
(but you can't see the forest through the trees)

So, I've been learning on my own, off-and-on for the past 9 years, marketing and copywriting.

I'm a great writer - many people have said that, and I have a few testimonials.

My resume is not too shabby, with CMO (1 year) experience, 9 years of copywriting, knowledge of SEO, certified as an email list manager, and got a best seller on Amazon. Hell, my book hit best sellers (in an unrelated genre) in 4 days after being published...

I've had a few successes, via meeting people, and they have given me a chance to write (blogs, ads, social posts, direct mail, emails, landing pages, salesletters, newsletters, etc), which sound like a lot, but most of it was from my CMO work...

I've generated over $23M (by chance) for my clients, never missed a deadline, and increased an eComm store ROI by 105%.

But after I get paid, send in the deliverables, some 'weird' reason, they don't use the copy nor give feedback, other than "it looks amazing". Now, when I say they don't use it, I'm referring to them just leaving it and ghosting me afterward.

My last client, whom I found randomly by chance and replied to his post (which I do all day to try and land other gigs) for $300 for an email campaign for his client, sent out one of my emails, and he replied that it was great and was generating sales to a cold list. I'm thinking everything is going well, and he just ghosts me out of nowhere and denies access to the creatives. I haven't heard from him in a minute, and I don't know what I did...

Nonetheless, I'm tired of these uneducated, stupid ass, uninformed, broke, business owners who don't understand marketing.

Every time I go to apply on job sites, I get rejected due to either being overqualified or underqualified. I'm on my 700th revision of my resume now... and I'm only exaggerating a little bit...

Now, I'm not a big fan of social media for my personal stuff... I'm on LinkedIn writing to a whole 72 unengaged viewers (which I used to randomly add people before using the site legitimately). A few posts will reach past 100 views and get one or three reactions...

But I'm not a fan of social media myself. Like all, I wish to do is write.

But I love marketing and writing (which I can't express enough), but I struggle with asking for help...

So here I am asking this helpful, and savagely honest community.

Why can't I find a paying client?

Here's what I've tried for a full year:

  • cold email
  • warm email leads
  • cold calling
  • hot prospecting - meeting in person
  • marketing events
  • business chatrooms
  • business networking events/sites (BNI, Alignable, etc.)
  • direct mail
  • walking in person
  • cold video introduction
  • offering free work
  • submitting over 800+ applications, customly tailored to each job posting
  • asking for a chance
  • asking for referrals
  • incentivising others to help find me referrals,
  • asking family to help their business
  • posting in social media groups
  • Had two successful mentors tell me what to do, I did it, and still nothing
  • still following up with most of them, still crafting customly tailored messages
  • ai automated outreach and posting
  • been on podcasts
  • have a portfolio

I've been reading Guerrilla Marketing, but most of it... I've done in the past...

What has worked best in the past, randomly, was me joking that I could do it for them, and they said 'okay'... but they're cheap and don't understand marketing.

So the question I desperately want to know... because I want to be a writer... a copywriter...

(NOTE: forbescopy. com is my site)

Where can I go to find high paying business owners who need copywriters AND what do I need to do to land them long-term?

Please help... I'm tired of being broke and slamming my head against the wall trying to establish my own path.

I'm not even making $300 a month from it...

Even with the help of my two mentors...

I'm still on my own with this... and I'm tired of doing it alone...

Any suggestions?

Any referrals?

Any advice?

HELP! me please...

...

Ps I'm willing to sell my left nut to have a client who believes in me, isn't afraid of investing, and who sticks with me long term.

(My goal is to follow in the steps of Ben Settle - as in being my own client and writing for myself, which in time will happen and make $10k monthly)

Thanks for reading & listening to me vent.

Newbie writer looking to grow a community, authentically.

Hi everyone,

Have you ever wondered why your thoughts sometimes change the way things show up for you?

Maybe you decide to focus on gratitude and, suddenly, more good things happen.

It makes me feel like life might be more like a dream than a set of gears.

I’ve been exploring this idea (how our minds and the universe work together), and I wrote about it in a little book called Ætherveil.

It combines old wisdom with new science to demonstrate that we all share a unified field of consciousness.

It’s written in simple language, so anyone can enjoy it.

I’d love to know what you think: do your thoughts shape your world?

Here’s a link if you wanna read it. Aetherveil

I’m curious to hear your experiences or questions. Thanks for reading!

(TL;DR - I'm a new author and wanted to share the first book that I've written. It's a non-fiction compilation of religious, spiritual, metaphysical, philosophical, and historical docs, in a neutral tone. With 'As above, So Below' being the main principle of life, it's been echoed so much that it's gone mute. This is a reminder that the universe happens through you, not to you. )
