Demo my bathroom and found this behind my shower. Thoughts?

I’m susposted to remove the drop ceiling and just hope I have some type of studs ran thru it ? I’m alittle confused as to what I can do also about my last 2 pictures which are me looking up from under the shower head with nothing but open space going straight to the attic.

So I’m currently financing a town home, noticed the bathroom fan does not suck out properly. I’m looking to replace it but I’m not sure which route to take. I’m unaware what to do with the little box pictured in my attic that runs to the fan. I checked to see it is venting out to my roof. Which I have no access too, (3 story’s tall) I want to add also there are two light switch outlets with 4 switches in total, my fan runs constant and only 2 of the switches work for my light and fan. I’ve checked Google asked AI and more but can’t find any good answers. Any info is appreciated
