***SPOILER**** Did the future ending in The Middle actually happen or was it just Frankie imagining it?

I know it seems a bit deep for a sitcom, but my wife and I are split on the ending. She thinks Frankie’s montage at the end was the real future, but I think it was Frankie’s imagination.

The fact it cuts back to them still driving to Denver, after she’s had that moment, suggests it’s her imagining the future rather than it actually happening.

Maybe that’s the point and it’s not supposed to be clean and definitive; it is the Heck’s after all - but where do people land on this. Real future or Frankie’s fantasy.

Room on Fire in the reason The Strokes are the band they are today!

Okay, it’s not as straight forward as the title suggests and it’s a matter of opinion - however, I’ve been listening to it a lot recently and it takes me straight back to 2003/04. For me, this album completely bottles that era.

I know people criticised it at the time for being more of the same, Julian’s vision etc. but without this album and that very specific early Strokes sound, I don’t think the band survives long enough to become the version of The Strokes we know today.

I like the experimental direction they eventually went in, but if ROF suddenly sounded more like Angles or Comedown Machine, would they have survived as a band and even made FIOE; I’m not sure.

I think older strokes fans get it but I think newer or younger fans don’t seem to have much love for ROF, but I think the significance of this album is bigger than it gets credit for sometimes.

I was late 20s when this show first aired so I just watched it as a light hearted comedy, mainly because it had “the janitor from scrubs” in it.

But I’ve just watched the whole show again; and now as a 40 something, father of teenagers, who always seems to be broke, no matter how hard I work; this has become more than a comfort show, it’s become therapy and so relatable.

Who’s with me?
