Weekend Report 5/8/26
Hello from Hook You Up Bait and Tackle, Sandston!
So.. a little different this week! A LOT of people are heading towards West Point and other brackish waters in search of croaker, catfish, and striper.
Even though this year has shown odd patterns, I'd still advise against croaker for another month or so; unless someone can show otherwise, I haven't gotten a single picture or comment from anyone who has actually caught enough / sizeable croaker to justify the trip.
Striper and catfish, however, are still lighting it up everywhere.
Bass are also doing really well for a lot of folks, and grubs seems to have increased success this year, even on the big slabs. What's odd about this year too, is the color selection. They're much less picky and I've even been catching them on darker colors mid-day. White is probably still the best choice currently! I personally transition into the chromes and greens or white/reds as the water temp increases. Hope this helps!
Have fun all, catch a big one, and don't forget to share photos of your success!
