Why does nobody seem to talk about silicon photonics at Intel?
They’ve been working on it for years, and it feels like it could be a huge deal for data centers and AI (optical interconnects, lower power, higher bandwidth, etc.). But compared to CPUs, GPUs, and AI accelerators, it barely gets mentioned. Is it just because it’s “behind the scenes” infrastructure, or it being not mature enough to matter? Curious what people who follow this more closely think.
