Trying to return to YVR after a visa refusal — looking for advice on whether to hire a lawyer
I’m currently in Mexico, but I intend to return to VYR. My situation has become a bit complicated, and I’m trying to understand what my options are, whether this would be considered a difficult case to reopen, how much it might cost, and whether there may be another way forward.
I lived in Vancouver for almost two years. I first applied for a study permit, but it was refused. After that, I was approved for visitor status restoration. Later, I submitted a work-related application, which was also refused. Honestly, I want to go back because I’ve always wanted to study there.
Briefly, this is what happened: when I was there, I started the process so I could study there but got my first refusal letter then I started my application for VSR and got approved. Then a company that was interested in hiring me brought in a consultant to handle my process, but the consultant took too long to move things forward.
On my side, I decided to return to Mexico so I wouldn’t lose my legal status in Canada. Shortly after that, visa requirements were imposed, which made returning much more difficult.
The consultant continued handling my case, but I believe there were omissions in the application. In the end, Canada refused my visa. The refusal letter said that if I want to apply again, I would need to address and clarify several concerns raised by the immigration officer.
Basically, I’m trying to understand whether this is still a viable case, whether I could run into bigger problems if I apply again, and whether hiring a lawyer would make sense given that I’m working in Mexico now and the cost is obviously a big factor
