Our landlord gave us an N12 saying they want to use the basement for themselves. They live upstairs. They have 2 children and claim they want to plan for a 3rd one.
I find the timing suspense because they illegally increased the rent last year and then gave us an N2 in January after confronting us about an issue. I guess they got legal representation after this because their paralegal reached out to us and recanted the N2 saying it was sent in error and tried to give back the money from the increase (we didn’t not accept).
I believe the N12 is in retaliation to the confrontation we had, but I do think they want to use the basement and not rent it out again.
Do I have a chance here with the board? We are a young family with a baby and finances are rough right now. I won’t be able to find another place like this.
