Recommendations & Opinions on new products
Hey all, was hoping for some help with this. So, like, first and foremost, I'm a first responder. I'm mentioning this because like, y'all have to understand, if I get called in, sometimes I don't have the time to sit and wait 10min in the shower with shampoo sitting on my head or to do complicated treatments. I try to let the shampoo sit for like 2-5min while I wash the rest of my body, but sometimes that's just not possible.
Anyway. So I have struggled with dandruff my whole life. The flakes range from oily and yellow, to dry and white. Usually dry and white though, even tho I feel like my scalp is oily. Anyway, I have tried 1% Ketoconazole (Nizarol), 1% Zinc (Head & Shoulders, Jupiter, Dove), 1% Salicylic Acid (Dove), 1% Selenium Sulfide (Selson Blue, Head & Shoulders Clinical Line), and prescription 2% Ketoconazole, and Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo (Their Lavender Mint one and the Special one). With every treatment, it always seems to be the same result, I use it for while, like 6 months, it works amazing, and then all of a sudden my scalp is like nope and the dandruff comes back with a vengeance. For instance, my partner has dandruff too, 6 months ago we switched from Jupiter to the Head & Shoulders Clinical. The Head & Shoulder Clinical worked amazing for both of us during those 6 months. Now it's stopped for me. I tried going to Head & Shoulders Tea Tree and then Dove, those just refused to work.
So I need product recommendations. I'm running out of treatment options here. I thought about trying ByeFlakes (aka Flakes) on a whim here, but it's more expensive than Jupiter and for a smaller bottle. And I'm afraid it's gonna be the same result. I did love Jupiter. Like I used them for the longest time out of any of the other treatments. Jupiter made my hair soft and smelled amazing. But my only thought difference is Jupiter has 1% Zinc, compared to Flakes that has 2%. Maybe my hair will be shocked at the 2%. I also thought about switching back to the Paul Mitchell line. Either doing the Lavender Mint, the Special, or their Lemon Sage (I know it's thickening shampoo, only thought was that Lemon does have antimicrobial properties). I haven't used their Special shampoo since high school (I'm 27 now) and it worked well at the time. I also saw they have a dandruff line available now, but concerned about that because it only has 1% zinc.
I don't know guys, what are your thoughts and opinions? I'm trying to get ideas over here before I drop a significant amount of money on a product.
