High Yield ETF vs Growth ETF

I see a lot of people asking what they should buy and which ETF is good for investment maximum return..

Well, there is 2 category of investors.. who prefer upfront maximum income over future growth.. Other category prefer long-term growth like 5 to 10 years..

Let's say you have 100k savings at your 50s or 60s and you want monthly cash flow to meet your expenses your have different goals than a 30 to 40 year old investor who is still working & earning for living expenses but want future growth of his investment..

1st category will select high yield covered call ETFs which provides 40 to 70% dividend over the period of your investment.. you putting your money knowing you will get high dividend weekly while your share price may decline overtime.. however some underlying ETF specially semiconductor sector did see a NAV growth plus dividend in 2026.. but in most cases your NAV may remain flat or 10 to 30% down depending on underlying.. Moreover, all high yield ETF brands like Yieldmax, Roundhill are giving 40 to 80% return because these funds are intended to give you high dividend where a big portion of your dividend is return of capital (ROC).. it's your obligation to do proper research on single underlying and its part, present and future potential.. that way you will never lose money as long as underlying performance is satisfactory..

The math is you need to look at the end of a six months period or 1 year how much you received from dividend and deduct the share market price to find out your actual return.. if you have not buying some underlying ETF whi h has no future then you will end up 40 to 50% actual return of investment.. if that satisfy you then high yield ETFs are your best choice.. but always keep some dividend a side re invest periodically to keep your return higher.

However, those who blame often and complain for NAV erosion & whining every day in reddit they should not buy high yield.. buy only future growth with little or no dividend..

After AMD earning report AMD surged to 17% & AMDY 13%.. next earning looks over $1 per share.. most semiconductor ETF including CHPY is up 4%.. but NVDA is down as so NVDY..

AMDY looks like will do very well with AMD into 2027..

These are probably few best funds inside Yieldmax will continue to do well with underlying.. I put 200k in these funds a month ago with due diligence.. but watching carefully NAV & distribution numbers.. I'm in my early 60 & income is my priority rather than future growth.. but a portion of dividend goes to Canadian monthly ETF like HHIS, BKCL..
