It's been quite the struggle to find a decent looking dustbin for the kitchen. Everything I've seen is either too small or has dual compartments.

I'm looking for one that

  • Is large, ideally of 30-50L capacity
  • has a foot pedal-lid
  • has a single compartment
  • isn't an eyesore in the kitchen

I would have picked up the Knockla one from Ikea if the bottom wasn't so narrow.

Other options that fit the bill are all >10k which is not the vibe.

It's well established that no hospital can refuse medical care for emergency cases irrespective of ability of fulfilling payment or insurance status.

However, you see insurance companies maintain a list of hospitals that are excluded from scope of coverage. Granted, it comes with the caveat that in case of emergency, expenses upto stabilisation will be covered but not beyond that.

But how does it play out in reality? Are policy-holders expected to be apprised of the updated list at all times? In an emergency, who is actually going to take time to pull up the list and check if the nearest hospital is blacklisted? If you end up at a delisted hospital, are you supposed to have the presence of mind to shift hospitals the minute you're stable to avoid being buried in uncovered charges?

It's a scary situation to be in.

I've been looking to ditch my plastic chopping boards and switch to wooden.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've read that the single block ones are more prone to warping and aren't as durable. Amra Farms has both a single block teak option and a joint teak wood one which I assume is edge grain that looks good and is a bit cheaper than the single block one but I couldn't find any reviews for the brand or the products.

I also looked at Wood Chop for their acacia options and Vesta Homes on amazon and couldn't decide although I'm gravitating towards the Amra Farms edge grain one.

What's ideal for low maintenance and durability? Edge grain or single block?

Any thoughts or reviews on Amra Farms, Wood Chop or Vesta Homes? I'm open to other options as well. My focus is on good quality and finish, durability and minimal maintenance.
