Best ways to save on commuting to Huntingdon

Hi all,

I previously posted about commuting to Huntingdon for a new role and have now decided to go for it.

I’ll likely be driving from Peterborough to Huntingdon around 4 days a week and would appreciate any tips on keeping the commute as cost-efficient as possible.

A few people suggested looking into a cheap EV. I currently have a small VW Polo, so I’m weighing up whether it’s worth switching or just sticking with that initially.

Would appreciate any advice on fuel costs, parking, EV charging, or general commuting savings.

Thanks!

Hello,

So I did post here last week regarding Salary & what i should post for current & expected salaries on the form.

As mentioned, I got confirmation last Friday via email that they wanted to proceed with an offer after I fill out some additional questions form. I sent the email back early Saturday morning with the completed form.

(Hope they didn't miss my email, given it was also Bank Holiday on Monday lol).

But how long should it normally take for them to send me final offer etc?

I'm currently in Sharm right now (3rd May), been here for a few days and have a few days left to go. I am tempted to go snorkelling with my wife, but of course there is always a fear of Sharks or dangerous underwater species. What are the chances of encountering these?

Also whilst snorkelling, is there an assisted guide with us during the sessions or something? (If we can't swim)

Does anyone commute from Peterborough to Huntingdon for work either by train or car? (atleast 4 days min). If so, how do you find it? Is it manageable?

Thanks

I’ve been verbally progressed to offer stage for a Lead position. The advertised salary band is £58.4k–£74.9k. My current basic salary is £52.5k, and earlier in the process I stated my expected salary as £71k–£73k, though they didn't ask me my current salary then (before interview)

The form now asks for:

- current salary

- salary required

I plan to put my real current salary and keep salary required at £71k–£73k.

Would you keep it consistent at this stage, or change anything?

What I'm fearing is that I put my current salary and then they try to low ball me.

Any advice in this regards please?

Note: I need to go through SC % DV clearance for this role
