“Remember this iconic line? I bet she’ll say it again at the end of the story.” (Spoiler Potential)

If I’m not mistaken, this iconic line was first said in Chapter 2 of both the manga and the anime. It was then echoed again in Chapter 39, and in Episode 13—the finale of Season 1 in the anime. I’ve only read up to Volume 14 so far, so if this has already been fully explained or revisited later on, then I apologize in advance if my interpretation is off.

I also came across a Reddit post discussing the “dream” and the “secret” mentioned in Chapter 89

—where she talks about choosing her own future and her friends’. She says she needs more time to think, before turning to see a wedding dress on display. She then mentions that she actually has another dream. When Rintaro asks what it is, she simply replies,

“That's still a Secret.”

That moment doesn’t feel random at all—it feels intentional. It’s very likely a piece of foreshadowing that Saka Mikami is setting up for later. And that’s what makes me believe there’s a strong chance this iconic line will be said once again— this time, at the moment they get married.

This is the line I imagine she will say:

“I am Kaoruko Waguri, and you are Rintaro Tsumugi. Chidori and Kikyo do matter to me…

Because they’re the reason I met you, Rintaro Tsumugi— The one I truly wanted to get to know.

Thank you… for making my dream come true.

If you’re okay with me,

I would be so happy to spend the rest of my life with you.

I will marry you too, Rintaro.”

.

.

I might be wrong—but to me, if this line is said again at the very end, it would become one of the most iconic lines in manga history, and a perfect conclusion to their story.

Almost like—

The fragrant flowers (Kaoruko) bloom with dignity (Rintaro).

P.S. At first, I actually intended to stick with the original line—that Chidori and Kikyo “don’t matter.”

But after thinking about it more, it feels like the conflict between the two schools will eventually be resolved, and their relationship will likely improve.

Since this would be the conclusion of the story, I wondered if changing it to reflect that growth—acknowledging that both schools do matter—might be more fitting.

What do you guys think?

P.S. 2 I don’t mean any disrespect to the author at all. This is just my personal interpretation and speculation about what might happen.

And even if it turns out differently, I still trust Sensei to deliver an ending that we’ll never forget.
