Week 5 of my journey to becoming a Backend Developer

I’m still focusing on JavaScript for now.

I still need to cover these topics in JavaScript before moving on to the next stage:

- async/await

- selectors

- DOM

The most important thing for me right now is to practice, I really need to do that

*I'm also catching up on other topics

If anyone has advice or suggestions, I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Week 4 of my journey to becoming a Backend Developer

I’m still focusing on JavaScript for now.

This plan will probably evolve over time, but for now, I want to follow it step by step and focus on consistency.

If anyone has advice or suggestions, I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Choosing a direction was difficult for me, but at the same time a priority.

The question of backend or web was actually quite straightforward — I enjoy backend more and it interests me the most.

Why I chose Node.js is because it felt like the most logical starting point for me. I also understand that I might change my direction over time, and Node gives me flexibility if that happens.

This roadmap is not something fixed — it’s more of an orientation guide that can change over time. For now, I want to focus on consistency and step-by-step progress.

Current plan:

  • JavaScript
  • Git / GitHub
  • Node.js (without TypeScript at first — I want to get comfortable with the environment and write JavaScript first, then add TypeScript later)
  • Node http (under the hood, basics only for understanding)
  • HTTP (request/response, methods, status codes, how client-server communication works)
  • Express.js (to understand how APIs work before introducing a database)
  • Databases
  • Authentication (first real project after DB)
  • TypeScript
  • Docker
  • Deployment (AWS / Azure)
  • NestJS (optional at this stage)

"Roadmap":
JS → Git → Node → HTTP → Express → DB → Authentication → TypeScript → Docker → Deployment → Nest

This plan will probably evolve over time, but for now, I want to follow it step by step and focus on consistency.

If anyone has advice or suggestions, I’d really appreciate your feedback.

This week, I focused on continuing my JavaScript learning and searching for better ways to practice.

I didn’t introduce any new topics yet, but I’m working on strengthening my fundamentals and building consistency.

Сurrent plan (unchanged):

  • JavaScript
  • Git / GitHub
  • Node.js (without TypeScript at first — I want to get comfortable with the environment and write JavaScript first, then add TypeScript later)
  • HTTP
  • Express.js (to understand how APIs work before introducing a database)
  • Databases
  • TypeScript
  • NestJS

"Roadmap":
JS → Git → Node → HTTP → Express → DB → TS → Nest

This plan will probably evolve over time, but for now, I want to follow it step by step and focus on consistency.

If anyone has advice or suggestions, I’d really appreciate your feedback.
