Looking to try out Modern

Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about getting into Modern and could use some advice.

I’ve been mostly playing Pauper for the last year, and before that I played some Draft and Commander. One of the things I really like about Pauper is that it doesn’t rotate, and that’s basically what got me interested in Modern too.

I usually enjoy control decks the most, but I’ll be honest, I’m pretty bad at piloting them 😃 So I’m not sure if jumping straight into a harder deck is the best idea.

Right now I’m looking at a few options:

Boros Energy looks really strong, but it’s also very expensive.

Living End seems powerful and a bit more affordable.

Belcher looks interesting, but I’m not sure if it’s a good first Modern deck.

I know Boros and Affinity are very popular right now, so I’m trying to figure out what actually makes sense to buy into. I want something competitive, but also something that won’t feel like a terrible investment if the meta shifts.

For people who play Modern regularly, what would you recommend as a first deck? Is Living End or Belcher a reasonable place to start, or should I just wait and save up for something like Boros? Also curious how hard these decks are to learn and sideboard with.

Thanks!
