Douglas fir hides ok?
I bought a reptile hide with the plan to chop it into smaller pieces to fit in my terrarium, then drill holes for hides, and finally soak it to get some rot going…
Well I did all that and then thought to look into what kind of wood I bought. It’s apparently Douglas fir pine, which AI says isn’t great for isopods and it will resist rotting because of terpenes.
Is the hazard low and just use it anyway? Or do I scrap this and buy already dry rotting wood for a hide?
I’m getting cherry blossom isopods so I want to give them the best possible environment, which means I’m also avoiding cork bark as I’ve heard has nothing of value for isopods.
Suggestions welcome
