In a rare interview in GQ with Jay-Z, on his booking of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Journalist: When we’re talking about putting on for the culture and getting into these different spaces, what does it mean to you to be at the helm of a cultural event as important as the Super Bowl halftime show?
Jay-Z: I think everyone should experience music in its totality. And for a lot of years, it was only one side of music that was being represented for whatever reason. We got the opportunity to create a more balanced idea of what popular music is today. I’m not going out on a limb. These are the most famous people in the world. I didn’t pick the indie artist that I really like from Portland.
How do we feel about this: Do we think Jay referring to Aes? Did we almost get an Aesop Rock Super Bowl halftime show?
Personally - I want to believe Jay was shouting him out, and if so that's pretty cool.
