I was bored and had art block so I doodled a Novi Sona lol! The gimmick would be a "pull apart, put back together" type thing where you could take off and swap their limbs. I dont think I've quite hit the Novi Star feel yet, it doesn't help that they never made a boy doll lol.

My question is what should I do for the antenna and eye shines? I put the heart temporarily for the eyes but the Novis are so much more detailed. I was thinking maybe a lightning bolt, like Frankenstein? But Im not sure. I figured I would share here and get yalls ideas!

Inspired by u/NeedleWorkerNo4941 , I decided to put Zooey with Mimi! I also thought I might share how I got into collecting Novis since its connected!

Like im sure all of us, Ive always loved dolls! My grandma has a huge collection of those porcelain dolls which, while not so fun for a scared kid at night, definitely pushed my interest in dolls. Around 2018 I got really into the doll customizing channels like Dollightful and (unsuccessfully) tried it myself, but I've never been a huge Monster High fan. I never stopped watching them tho!

In 2020 Rainbow High dolls started getting released and were highly praised for their quality and great designs. I immediately started collecting them and continued to until around 2023 when the quality started to dip and life got busy. At some point during then they released Zooey, and she immediately became my all time favorite Rainbow/Shadow High doll! I had no idea what Novi Stars even were until I saw other people online talking about how Mimi was the one on her shirt and laptop. At that point I hadn't bothered to really look into Novis but thought it was cool and really liked Mimi.

At some point around 2022-2023 I believe, a video about vintage dolls showed up on my YouTube fyp, and one of the doll lines she talked about was Novi Stars! I absolutely fell in love, it kickstarted started a more active interest in Novis for me but I still didnt start collecting them yet mostly due to money.

Later I saw a doll customizer named Moonlight Jewel did an art challenge where she customized a Mimi doll and made her own version. I was thrilled to see more love for these dolls, it was the only community I knew at the time for them (obviously I know now there was more but I didnt know of them back then)

After years of talking about Novi Stars, last year my sister decided to get me my first two dolls, my Ari Roma (part of the reason I love her so much!) and my Gail Lexi. Actually seeing them in person and being able to hold them was a totally game changer. Im not sure if I wouldve even started collecting them due to my anxiety over the prices if not for her! Since then Ive been getting dolls when I find them for a good price (for the most part, I may have gotten a tad overexcited when I first started lol) As you can see Im primary a in box collector with Nita Light and Ari Roma being my big exceptions, Nita cuz she looks so much cooler out of box and I found a working one for sale for a GREAT price and Ari cuz she's my favorite! I also have Una Verse and her pet and a mix and match Vera Tabray, but I'm debating selling or trading them since I think someone else might appreciate them more, Im not sure yet tho. Eventually I hope to redesign all of them and make my versions into actual dolls!

I know my story was a bit convoluted lol, for most of their actual production I was a bit too young for them and when I was old enough my family mostly stuck to barbies, so I dont have any nostalgia for these from when I was little. I would love to hear how you all started collecting too!

Hello! I got this doll recently as a a freebie along with some other dolls (super nice of the seller!!) and was wanting help identifying who the body and shoes come from! The head is obvs Vera's and the swimming suit is from Una's. Im considering seeing if anyone would be interested in trading her for some pieces my Nita is missing (headphone, pet and soda bottle) since I think another collector might appreciate her more!
