This past weekend, I was hemming and hawing at our local nursery about whether to rip out our Japanese cedar foundation shrubs and replace them with nativar "Little Henry" sweetspire shrubs. We have two Globosa Nana crytpomerias in front of our porch and one has been looking like shit. I was feeling guilty about whether to try to rehab the ugly one because I tend to feel guilty about giving up on plants, and my spouse says "What would Joey What's-His-Nuts do?" meaning Joey Santore of Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't / Kill Your Lawn fame. In a second, all my guilt was gone, and two sweetspires were put on the cart. Thank you Joey for giving me the resolve to kill my non-native shrubs!
