A Backrooms-inspired game with online co-op, aiming to feel fresh and original since there are already too many similar versions out there.
The game would be called “Sanity.” It plays like a classic co-op Backrooms game—you need food, water, and rest—but with a twist: the focus is on your sanity and your friendship. Resources are scarce, there’s no UI, no health bar, no sanity bar—nothing. You have to look around and pay attention to notice when your mind starts breaking.
The world isn’t just empty; it has mimics—people who look and sound like your friends, trying to lead you away from the group and sacrifice you to the “mold.” These mimics even use phrases you or other players have said as part of their vocabulary to trick you.
When a player leaves, they don’t just despawn. They slowly go insane, fall behind, and are dragged away by mimics to the mold—used as bait for later. The deeper you go, the worse your sanity gets: you start seeing things that aren’t there, hearing your friends incorrectly, and your chance of being replicated increases.
The game has areas that force players to split up. Eating, drinking, and sleeping restore sanity, while neglecting these or seeing something tragic or terrifying lowers it, sometimes drastically.
(Sorry for my English, I’m from Europe. Also people were asking me, but I didn’t use any AI; I only needed to translate a few words, that’s all)
