Reggaeton helped me and gave me hope for change

I don't even know where to start this post. I don't even know if it will remain here, or not, but I am going to say it, and we will see.

I'm from Hungary, and I listen to reggaeton/perreo and overall spanish music for 6 years at this point everyday.

My enthusiasm for this music grew bigger after a while than just casual music enjoying. I have seen how reggaeton formed communities and grew grit in countries such as Puerto Rico and Colombia.

I have seen how various songs have been used as anthems on the streets of San Juan as folks have been demonstrating and fighting for a better country that they deserve. I admired the strength and resilience of the Puerto Ricans, and admired that despite all of their social issues, the struggle of their nation, they kept dancing, smiling and holding together. I was even a little bit jelous, I wanted to see something similar in my country too.

A week ago we wrote history in Hungary. We have defeated those who tried to opress us, and robbed and corrupted our country for 16 years.

I cannot emphasize enough, how much power the latin-american artists gave me throughout the years, how they saved my life with a tons of merits.

I would like to say a personal thank you to my favorite artists, but instead, I am saying now thank you for the reggaeton community. And from the bottom of my heart I wish the same strength and victory for not just Puerto Rico, but for all the countries that are suffering under similar circumstances, but turnt their suffering into music that has longevity and boundless strength that is beyond borders.

I know this is getting too political, but I really wanted to say this.

On the election night in Hungary one week ago, I was jamming to El Apagón and Acho PR (which is tattooed on my left arm) and crying from joy.

¡Dios bendiga Hungría, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, Cuba, Venezuela y DR. Gracías!

¡Dios bendiga los fanaticos de reggaeton en el mundo entero!

Con besitos de Hungría, te amo todo.
