The pot was a gift from my partner, poor plants roots were getting squished and coming out of the drainage holes at the bottom so figured it was a good idea to move her!

Visiting family and they have a succulent on the windowsill, is it supposed to have the extra growths going upwards? How can we help it if not? Its a west facing window so it gets a pretty good amount of sunshine, but I'm not sure how often it gets watered as its a succulent and also not mine?

Sorry for the slightly rubbish photo, I've just got a tradescantia plant, it was recommended by the employee in the garden center as I have a south facing window that doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight. If anyone has any advice or tips for helping it flourish then please let me know, the brown spots were there when I bought it so I know I haven't started killing it off yet.
