Mayfly Hatch - Recent Years

Anyone else notice how poor the Mayfly has been in recent years? I remember you’d be licking your lips thinking about May fishing as it was always a good chance to pick up a big trout.

I’ve noticed in recent times there isn’t even a big enough hatch to get the trout on the rise. I put it down to more and more algae on the bed of the river preventing the larvae from hatching. It’s a shame. I’d be keen to hear how it is in your own local area

Any red flags with this engine? Would be looking in around the 2013-2015 range. All seem to have nice spec and automatic. I test drove one a few weeks back and really liked the DSG box. Does that gearbox still have the dry clutch or did they switch? I know earlier tsi golfs had issues with timing change and superchargers. My commute to work is quite short (less than 10 mins) so I’m not keen on a diesel and don’t fancy a smaller hybrid like a jazz, fit, auris etc. GTE golf or Passat could be an option but for my budget (12-15k) it’ll be hard to find a decent one and more than likely the battery will be out of warranty. Thanks for any help.

2013 C200 Merc. Has anyone had this issue and gotten their subframe replaced by Mercedes under the recall issue? Heard a clunking metallic noise the other day, took off the wheel to find this a heap of rust and the control arm (I think) broken off. Not ideal. I’ve rang Mercedes in limerick and waiting for them to get back to me. I can just picture them trying to charge me for other bits while repairing the subframe. And I suppose the chances of a courtesy car are slim?

Would love to hear peoples experiences with this if they’ve come across it.

UPDATE:

Spoke to FH limerick, car booked in next week for inspection. Said they’re doing 2-3 of these a week and could be end of July before it’s done. Mental
