I always found the end of E.T. hard to take because I was just as lonely as Elliott and I couldn’t accept that he could just move on and have a normal life when it’s so clear that he loves E.T. and wants to be with him more than anything.

E.T. really hit me hard as a child because I was just as lonely as Elliott, I was actually rooting for him to get on the ship at the end so they could be happy together.
