[MY / Malaysia] Career advice: QA, BA or DBA?
Hi everyone,
I graduated with a Diploma in Computer Science and have been working at a small POS system company for almost 2 years. Because the company is small, I handle a mix of responsibilities:
Customer backend setup (menu, system config)
Installation & training (including TCP printer setup, explaining workflows to clients)
Support (handling issues directly or escalating when needed)
Basic testing of new releases (no formal QA process)
Some admin work (filing, basic payroll & accounting systems)
Right now I’m feeling a bit stuck about my next step. From what I see, QA or BA seem like common paths, but I don’t fully understand them yet.
I’m more interested in database-related work and have considered becoming a DBA. I don’t really enjoy coding, but I do have some basic SQL knowledge and find it more interesting than programming.
So I’m unsure:
Is it realistic to aim for DBA starting from zero?
Should I pursue something I’m interested in but unclear about, or go for QA/BA first?
How can I properly explore these paths before committing?
Would really appreciate any advice or shared experiences, especially from those who started in similar roles. Thanks!
日常 support(能解决的自己处理,不能的再交给后方)
