My company works for a low-income housing complex in our downtown area. Another guard and I are supposed to start at the same time. This guard goes out to the patio area, sits down, and falls asleep. Meanwhile, I receive the pass-downs and buzz residents into the garage.

I attempted to wake up my “partner” at 0030. We clock in at 23:45, mind you. He finally woke up at 01:15. He said that the supervisor usually sends him through the building to do fire watch. Our fire watch consists of patrolling four floors, then posting up on the third floor where a previous tenant had been setting small fires.

Anyways, I’m conducting surveillance and see him passed out in the chair. Yes, we can sit after our patrols are done, but not pass out. I reviewed the footage, and this “guard” didn’t even do a patrol.

I was planning on doing patrols and surveillance myself. However, the supervisor told me to just do surveillance and take screenshots of him sleeping. This guy has been here for years and somehow is still here. I hope he gets fired.

This is a small company with only one other site, and I work both locations doing the same thing, minus the fire watch. If the company loses the contract, we’re all out of a job because of this one “guard.”

So please, don’t be like this guy.
