Got an EX07 academic misconduct notice during exam - didn't cheat, need advice

Hey everyone,

I just received an EX07 notice (Alleged Academic Misconduct during an exam) today. I'm honestly really stressed about this and hoping someone here has been through something similar.

During the exam, my laptop battery was running critically low and I was worried my device would shut down before I could finish and submit. So I connected a power bank to keep it charged. That's the only unusual thing I did — and it's the only thing I can think of that might have looked suspicious to the invigilators.

What makes this even more frustrating is that this was my third exam using the same setup and the same Inspera system. The first two exams went completely smoothly with zero issues flagged. The only difference in this exam was that I connected a power bank mid-way through due to low battery. My behaviour, device, and everything else was identical to the previous two exams.

I genuinely did not cheat. The exam was honestly really difficult for me and I was struggling through it the whole time, which I'm sure the CCTV footage would show.

I've already drafted an email to the Exams Team explaining the situation. A few questions I have:

  1. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they were flagged for something innocent and had it resolved without penalty?
  2. Is it worth contacting Arc Legal & Advocacy, or is that overkill for something like this?
  3. Should I request the CCTV footage be reviewed as part of my explanation?
  4. What's the typical turnaround time for a response from the Exams Team?

Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated. This has been an incredibly stressful day.

Thanks
