Got offered a ₹2 Lakh discount on a Tata Curvv Pure Plus. Is this a "Steal" or am I being set up?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some blunt advice. I’m a very finance-focused, minimalist buyer, so I generally don't go for flashy deals unless the math makes absolute sense.

The Deal: A local showroom is offering me a Tata Curvv Pure Plus (Petrol MT) for ₹12 Lakh on-road.

  • Normal On-road Price (Karnataka/My Place): ~₹14 Lakh.
  • The Unit: Sept 2025 manufactured (Current month is May 2026, so it's ~8 months old).
  • Discount: Flat ₹2 Lakh off.

The Curvv fits my requirement for a solid, minimal-fuss car with good ground clearance, but a 2L discount on a fresh model year feels high. The dealer says it’s just old inventory clearance.

My concerns:

  1. Why the 2L drop? Is this a typical "year-end/old-stock" discount for Tata, or could this be a "lemon" batch unit?
  2. Long-term Value: Since I’m essentially buying "last year's" model in 2026, will the resale value take a hit that wipes out this ₹2L saving?
  3. PDI Checklist: What specific things should I look for in an 8-month-old unit that’s been sitting in a yard?

If the car is mechanically sound, is this the VFM deal of the year at 12L? Or should I stick to my minimalist guns and look elsewhere?

Appreciate any insights!
