Thoughts on watching and relistening to CI?

I was watching a youtube with a few of the more famous polyglots where they were talking about ways they learn new languages. One of them talked about watching a comprehensible video a few times, and then listening to it several times until the listening without watching is comprehensible as well. Has anyone tried this? Is it a good idea?

You'd still want to follow the guidelines of not stressing about it, not worrying about individual words you don't understand, etc. Just trying to decide if it's worth trying out. I'd love to get some extra input any time i'm driving, but i'm still too early to really listen and comprehend most things (I just hit 50 hours of dreaming spanish).

I'm building a site https://dev.lingoprops.com to make a community of people sharing their own native language and then being able to watch whatever languages they want. The goal of the site is to be able to make it as easy as possible to create comprehensible input videos. I got permission from the admins and finally got it reasonably bug free (i'm sure there's still lots of bugs) so I figure i'd share it out.

It'll always be free for those that are sharing their native language, eventually there will be a way to pay if you don't want to share your language but right now it's just for those that want to trade their language and build up the community.

What I'm looking for:

  1. If you like the idea of a site with just tons of comprehensible input and want to help
  2. If you want to help create children story type books. I have 3 stages: basic idea of the story, splitting that idea into pages, creating images for those pages
  3. If you are good at finding clipart that is free, I have 2 different ways to use clipart to make videos - story mode where you setup a story and tell it, improv mode where you tell a silly story using 1 of 4 props, it gets swapped out for a new prop and you keep going as long as you can.
  4. You want to help translate the site - I used AI to translate everything, but that's not ideal so it'll be good to have people go through and verify.

If this is successful then it should prove to be an awesome comprehensible library like Dream Spanish is for spanish. It should enable "all" languages for at least the initial 2000 hours of comprehensible input (that's the ultimate goal).

Future Dev: I'm also working on a classroom mode and a language exchange mode. Language exchange will be free forever and the recordings you make will be available to others to watch, you just make a link to share with someone and each of you teach using the teacher station (similar to a felt board) and each of you teach for 30 minute or so. Classroom mode will be for teachers who need to be able to see their students faces to know that they're making sense - it's hard to get this smooth but I'm working on it.

Feel free to join the site, or to chat to me directly here or comment here with questions/feedback
