Building in Public - Day 17

One thing we keep hearing again and again from people:

It’s not that they don’t want to invest.
They just don’t have the time or mental energy to keep up with everything.

Most people already know they should manage money better.

But between work, life, and information overload -finance starts feeling like homework.

These conversations are shaping a lot of how we’re building Orange.

BUILDING IN PUBLIC - Day 16🍊

One thing we’re trying to do while things are still small:

Personalize everything as much as possible.

Welcoming every early user manually, talking to them directly, making them feel part of something instead of just another signup.

Pretty sure this becomes impossible once you scale.

But maybe that’s the advantage of being early - you can care in ways bigger companies can’t.

Building in Public - Day 15

Thought everything was working fine until early users started using it properly.

Got this feedback today. Funny how people instantly find things you completely miss while building.

We’re still working on our backend and improving it based on early users feedback.

But why they’re doing?

Is it just to strength Jio’s balance sheet and market perceive no exit as growth oriented - what u think 🤔

Building in Public - Day 14

Spent almost the entire day in offline meetings yesterday. Started at 10 in the morning, ended around 10 at night.

Only 3 meetings, but somehow the whole day disappeared.

Probably one of the most tiring but useful days so far.

Got these messages from early users today after trying Orange.

Honestly crazy seeing people spend hours talking to something we built.

Still a lot to improve. Bugs, UI issues, things breaking randomly sometimes. But moments like this make the chaos feel worth it.

Got hit with a 3-day Reddit ban right after Day 7 - don’t know the reason. Anyway, ban’s gone now.

Since the last update, we’ve been heads down fixing things, talking to users, and getting the product ready for real people outside our circle.

Early access is now open for the first 100 users.

If you’re someone who wants to start or already investing but want clarity - talk to padii and see the magic.

We’re team of three people living in financial district

Tl;dr: A “market companion” you can actually call anytime to discuss about money, market and investments. Comment if you want early access.

- 21 days ago posted in reddit about my frustration
- Realised many people are stuck in the same loop
- Spent 1500+ mins talking to users to understand how they make money decisions
- 7 days ago took a challenge to ship something in a week and today, we’re live with early access.

If this Sounds Like You:

  1. You open an app, see thousands of options → don’t know what’s right - close it
  2. Investing feels confusing af
  3. You have SIPs… but no clue what’s actually happening

This is for you.

We’re not building another advisor or a “learn investing” course.

It’s more like that nerdy finance bro who actually understands money, investments & markets someone you can talk to on call, ask anything, and get clarity based on your situation.

Available 24/7. No jargon. No judgment. No Ghosting

For early access please comment.

Wrapped up backend.

Today was mostly closing loops - fixing edge cases, cleaning things up, making sure it doesn’t randomly break and still in middle of it.

This is the part that actually makes things usable. We’re now at a point where the product works end-to-end but still rough.

Funny how finishing something feels quieter than starting it. Launch in a few days.

For early access please dm

We were doing fine. Good roles, 3 promotions in a year, and if we stayed on track, ₹50-60L wasn’t unrealistic by this year. Which is exactly why leaving felt stupid to others.

Nothing was broken. But it started feeling too predictable.
Also noticed something - if you’ve built anything before, there’s this itch that comes back once you get comfortable. Hard to explain, but it doesn’t really go away.

So we quit and started again. Just didn’t want to look back later and think should’ve tried.

It’s been messy and way harder than expected. Most days feel like we’re figuring things out from scratch.

If you’re sitting on something and overthinking it - just start and talk to your customers.

tl;dr - Apple + Android approved. Opening early access.

After what felt like forever, both developer accounts are finally approved. This was blocking us - glad it’s done.

Backend is ~70% there. Pushing to finish it today, no matter what. Sleep is negotiable.

We’re now opening up early access (limited slots). If you’re stuck and don’t know how to start investing this is for you.

Will name it as Voice integration day ://

Debated WebRTC vs WebSockets for hours & finally picked a direction.

Then a “small” CPU throttling bug decided to ruin our life. But 7 hours later… fixed.
Also didn’t expect I’d be writing this much code again as an operator, but here we are and thanks to my CTO

Building is messy, confusing, and sometimes straight up frustrating. But as a founders we have to figure things out. If you haven’t checked our website please go & let me know your feedback

Some people are polishing and Some people are shipping and Some are still thinking to take that first step.

What’s your move?

PS - My move : Currently shipping, already left high paying yc backed startup job without backup to build again ⚡️
