Stage 15 - Plateau du Solaison Spectating Access
Hey everyone! My wife and I are visiting France with some friends this summer to see a few stages of the Tour and explore the French Alps. We're planning to stay in Bonneville for Stage 15 and want to head up the Plateau de Solaison to catch the final climb and finish. This is our first time attending a Tour de France stage.
Currently, our plan is to rent e-bikes and ride up the climb to the summit, but we’re open to other ideas if there’s a better way to handle the logistics. A few specific questions:
- Rental Recommendations: We’ve looked into Bcyclet, which would be convenient since the bikes would be delivered to our Airbnb. Are there any cheaper options / local shops we should consider that rent high-quality e-bikes? I've had a bit of a hard time finding good options online. We'll only be in Bonneville from July 18-20, so we'd prefer not to have to go too far out of our way for the bikes.
- Logistics: Are there any alternative ways to get to the top that we might be overlooking, or are e-bikes the most reliable way to navigate the crowds and road closures on race day? Note that one of our group is recovering from a knee injury, so we're hoping to keep our day relatively low impact (hence the e-bikes).
As a side note, I'm also hoping to get out early in the morning to ride a portion of Stage 15, including the Plateau du Solaison climb, and will likely rent a road bike in addition to our e-bike rentals. Anything I should be aware of that might not be obvious?
Thanks for the help!
