High Risk HPV.
I recently had a Pap smear in March. I go regularly, and my last one before that was in January 2025. I’m not sure if they tested me for HPV at that time, but my doctor decided to repeat the test this March. I’m 33 years old Female.
The results came back abnormal with some dysplasia. On Monday, I had my first colposcopy, and they took two biopsies. They told me they plan to do laser therapy to remove the abnormal cells. They also said they would provide the HPV vaccine. Normally it’s paid out of pocket, but because they performed biopsies and treatment, the clinic covers it, which is great.
I just wanted to get a second opinion — is this standard practice?
this is also my first ever abnormal Pap, and the doctor didn’t tell me what stage or anything just basically I went in for a colposcopy and he said there’s some lesions that appear white and we’re doing laser therapy.
