A quiet hill town that’s stayed the same - Lansdowne, Uttarakhand

Despite its age, Lansdowne remains a beautiful hill station located in Uttarakhand. Originally built as a British military base during colonisation’s age, there are many parts of this place's unique history which still can be appreciated by modern visitors today. It continues to have a relaxed atmosphere that is still evident today even though it is kept in good condition. Compared to other hill towns found throughout India, Lansdowne is cleaned better organised and less congested because it is operated by the 17th Battalion Garhwal Rifles.

Lansdowne is also surrounded by an abundant amount of pine and oak trees, has good transport options and offers a variety of panoramic views. The tranquillity of Lansdowne is due in part to the minimal noise level from people and traffic in this area. There are many attractions to check out such as Bhulla Tal (a close by lake which has been maintained by the armed forces), but there are numerous older structures including churches that do not overtake the area but instead blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape creating a peaceful environment. The climate is also warm, so the lifestyle in Lansdowne is normally relaxed.

Lansdowne has peaceful, green and consistent environment where natural beauty meets historical significance which contributes highly to one's experience while visiting this area.
