I failed part 2 by a huge margin (326 , though i felt it would either be a v close fail or a close pass)
Chatgpt felt the same, i was a "borderline pass candidate". Well i was more like a "borderline completly f***** inside out one" when the result came out lmao
(apology if you hate puns, i just happen to laugh/cuss things off to keep me cool💀)
**** Prep method used *****
Used similar strategy like what i did for part 1
I prepared for around slow 5 months (i passed part 1 back in august 2024 and had a huge pause before part 2)
I did pastest ONCE ( MIXED mcqs, overall percentage rose to 55% from a bottom of 40 ig when i started ) , making concepts along the way, learning why other options were incorrect etc
Putting it right into chatgpt and learning why i got it wrong and what to do when explanation on pastest answer felt insufficient to build a concept
Made a file alongside of mini notes of each mcq i solved initially (and i put in my relevant mrcp1 mneumonis and notes where fit as well). That file got HUGE, like 2500+ word pages
Then i started making an even concise ones, where i compiled the themes overlapping each other (like celiac with its like 10 variations in pastest qbank mini notes, whipple, tropical sprue etc. All enceaphs etc), that was small, very effective, but not complete yet by exam
Did around 20 pastpapers (scores were from a 77% high to a 53%low)
I started papers from 2023 back till 2020. Then near exam plan was 2025 and 2024 papers
(Scored high 70s, high 60s, near 65 fails before 2024 till 2020) with a slight edge towards 70+ plus papers
What happened midway was when i was doing a 2021 paper, i passed that close to 65%. I saw the online exam video, how it is held [the proctor one] , and i saw a paper in that video. I decided i might practice with a paper, that i will just write question number mark of which i am completly blind about on it, and focus on the end (introduced a new behaviour)
This resulted in HUGE slow down in paper speed, and i failed at 54 in immediate next 2021 paper
To recover, i thought i need to do the 2025 paper as i literally scored high 70s before. One win there would offset and no paper writing bs
Well you can prolly guess what happened lmao. I got ABSOLUTELY BATTERED and had a string of fails from 58 , 57 and 53% in those ( the cluster of 50s fail was these 90%)
Then i read the cohort thing, and i swear rcp has definately started shitting all of us bad now
I kept going on, and my last 2 papers in the 20 total were in 70s as well
I used to do paper while fasting in ramadan, and recheck the paper after i broke my fast
The rcpmock, i opened it while fasting and them question amount (123 as compared to 100/paper in pastest) made me shit my pants lmao
I did only 50 and quit, decided will give a go after food
Gave a go later on, switched answers if needed be of the initial 50 as well, and got a surprising 53% on it (very similar to my final score, though i switched the answers i did fasting but those were right 😭)
Analysed it, and found out that within same prep, if i just picked what i had at top of my head, i had scored 65% in that rcp mock
This was surprising as the way i did that mock, that shouldnt count. My last pastpapers in pastest were in 70s (were 2024 ones, 77 being the absolute peak that i hit overall right before exam)
But my final exam result was 53% as well??
**** Paper day ******
Felt paper 1 similar to pastest pass papers, like maybe a good near 70 at least or 70+ ones
Paper 2 felt complete bullocks
I was very positive on some exam themes which repeated, fresh from 2025 pasttest papers, which i revised a day before exam and got them all correct no doubt
Though there were some errors/leaks
(themes tested in part 1 primarily like the INR question where i picked FFP quickly since when i go fast is when i score high), i got other part 1 themes right as well, but there was a whole shitshow of what i didnt even have a hint of
(Pregablin drug related questions)
Like those questions, no matter what qbank you do, whatever textbook you use, they can't be prepared from ANY source
(Its a devilish mixture of niche af stuff, with consciously vague af stem, leaving out the MAIN labs with an intent and multiple right options. Like the preeclampsia question, the ward pt urinary incontinence question etc)
**** my take post result ***
I tried on jotting down the modifiable variables (since the unmodifable "ROYAL shithoussery " of rcp cant be changed, challanged and called out now lmfao, from paper cohort type bs to downright result release behaviour). Now them guys can even change results 2 yrs down the line and go away with a simple " oops sorry👉👈" and a "free attempt😍" type bs
Well for the modifiable factors
- my last whole month was fasting due to ramazan, stay completly empty for like 12+ hrs, and at times the circadian rhythm completly switched,
that is gone now naturally
i plan on just focusing on kinda chill approach with mcqs, topped with tv shows, standups, movies lmfao rather then geopolitics,hard cognitive stuff in downtime
do incorrect pastest qbank strategically, use my notes (the comparitive file that isnt total rn), do pastest papers on alternate days (2 in a day rather then 1 to build stamina. This was limited by fasting before)
and maybe hope a different outcome
