Batman and Robin’s dynamic in World’s Finest: Teen Titans (2023)

Word’s Finest: Teen Titans (2023) by Waid/Lupacchino/Bellaire

Waid’s take on Bruce and Dick’s relationship is among the most wholesome interpretations, and it achieves that without watering down the characters. It also doesn’t lose the tension in their relationship, and shows that they work despite it largely because Dick does the lion’s share of the work in communicating.

It’s an excellent take on both characters, at a time when it was desperately needed given the considerably less good takes going on in the present day main continuity at the time

Mom of the friend group Dick Grayson being done with Speedy’s antics (Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #9)

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest (2022-) issue #9 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora

I love every part of the World’s Finest Teen Titans’ dynamic, but Dick and Roy might be my favorite. Dick is the more mature friend who has thought through the consequences and wants to spare you from them. Roy uncritically supports you *especially* when you’re wrong!

People are too hard on DickBats for this scene (Batgirl 2009, #1). In his defense, he just watched Steph cause 2 car crashes and break a guy’s leg

Batgirl (2009-2011) #1 by Brian Q. Miller, Lee Garbett, and Trevor Scott

In fairness to Steph, she notes there was probably going to be a car crash in the race anyways, and she broke the man’s leg seemingly intervening to stop a fight between the racers, but Steph doesn’t think she did a particularly good job here either. The black thought text boxes are Steph’s thoughts, not Dick’s
