Feedback on a sleeve in progress
Hello,
I'm trying to merge what started as a couple of lone tattoos into a sleeve.
But I'm a bit unsure about how to continue. I'm open to all feedback as long as it's respectful :)
These are the tattoos I currently have:
- Upper arm scorpion: Was placed about 15 years ago, it's a heavy piece and will be reworked during the sleeve completion.
- Lower arm wristbands: about 5 years old, the black band for the passing away of my father, the red band for my severely handicapped godchild.
- Outer arm: done 4 months ago by a guest artist, a very generic and safe design, the pocket watch is for my son. The roses, one for my godchild, 2 for my stepchildren.
- Inner arm: was done 3 weeks ago by the artist who will also finish the rest of the sleeve. It represents Hyperion, the titan of light. Main meaning was to integrate it with the pocket watch, guiding my son in life. Because Hyperion does not really have an effigy I decided on a rather generic greek god and added sunrays behind it. Unfortunately I rushed the design and regret it — I already got the question "Is that Jesus?" which I do not want at all. The sun rays are also not very even as the artist didn't use a stencil for them. Any suggestions on making this design less religious and improving the sun rays are greatly appreciated.
I've been considering extending the sun rays into phoenix tail feathers to help connect the pieces and reduce the religious appearance — open to thoughts on this or alternative ideas.
I'm open to a full sleeve concept that ties everything together, including a rework of the scorpion. Any suggestions on how to connect all the pieces and finish the sleeve are very welcome!
