Help me r/Home, you're my only hope!

Attached are pics of the wall in question, a closer look at the half wall moulding, the framing for the plywood wall, as well as a pic showing the condition of the bottom of the wood paneling.

So the wife wants to put the beadboard all around the room, with half wall moulding, and then sheetrock on top, just like the other walls. What is the proper procedure here? She believes the easiest strategy would be to mount sheetrock on top of the already existing plywood wall (or whatever it is), then do the moulding and beadboard on the bottom half. I think it's be easier to mount the Sheetrock if the plywood was already off, and that'd give me room to trim the already existing half wall moulding. I think it's already kinda crumbling at the bottom anyway and we should get rid of it. Should we remove it? If so, do I then put sheetrock on the entire wall, then mount the half wall moulding, then the beadboard? What's the proper sequence? What should I avoid, or what are some tips you can share?

Please note, we're new homeowners, and I have a vague sense of what I'm doing, with low to moderate confidence in my home improvement skills, and an over abundance of motivation. I will do whatever you guys say is proper, correct, and safe. Thank you all in advance!
