whatever it is, the shards are in all different directions, they are shiny, smooth, and appear slightly translucent. they are not brittle or flakey.

the host(?) rock is about 3 feet across

i tried to clean the dirt out of the crevice but there is a lot of it. the black shards do continue into that space tho.
