Best place in India to retire

What’s the best place in India to disappear from stress and build a peaceful life? 🌿

I’m looking for a place to eventually settle down, buy some land, make a small farm with guesthouse or cafe, and live a slower, healthier life. My wife is Indian so we can buy land. Got enough savings to retire with modest life in India.

I’d love somewhere with:

  • good climate/nature
  • peaceful vibe
  • decent internet/basic infrastructure
  • friendly people/community
  • possibility to grow food

Touristic places like south Goa are okay, hidden gems are welcome too!

Would love to hear your suggestions and experiences.

Dry fasting for Lyme — do you continue herbal tinctures or stop everything?

For those who have done dry fasting for Lyme, did you continue taking your herbal protocols during the fast or stop everything completely? I’m currently taking multiple herbal tinctures (alcohol-based, around 11 ml 3x/day total, about 11 different herbs) plus modified citrus pectin 3x/day. My LLMD is strongly against stopping herbs completely, so I’m unsure what makes the most sense during a dry fast. Curious what others here have done and how it affected their results/reactions.

Dry fasting for Lyme while already very lean?

Has anyone here successfully used dry fasting already being very lean?

I’m considering dry fasting mainly to help with chronic Lyme and related symptoms. I recently completed a 4-day water fast without major issues, and in the past I’ve done a lot of intermittent fasting, 1-2day fasts.

My concern is that I’m already quite lean now - 186 cm, 75 kg, maybe 11–12% body fat. For people who are naturally skinny, how do you approach longer dry fasts safely without becoming too underweight? Do you focus on rebuilding between fasts, shorter fasting cycles, or something else?

Would you consider traveling somewhere warm and quiet for a few weeks just to rest and stabilize your symptoms?

I have CFS myself (Lyme-related), and over the last year I’ve had periods of improvement. One thing I’ve noticed is that my symptoms tend to get worse during winter in my country, and I feel significantly better in warmer, calmer environments.

Recently I did a 10-day meditation retreat, which helped calm my nervous system and improved my focus quite a lot. It made me realize how much environment, routine, and stress levels affect how we feel day to day.

My wife (she’s Indian) and I are planning to move to Goa anyway and build a simple life there, likely with a small farm. On top of that, we’ve been thinking about creating a very small, quiet place where a few people could come for a few weeks to focus on rest and recovery.

Very early idea — nothing built yet.

The idea is something like:

  • calm, low-stimulation environment (more like a farm/garden than a resort)
  • very small number of people (2–5 max)
  • flexible pacing (no pressure to do anything)
  • consistent daily rhythm (sleep, rest, gentle movement if tolerated)
  • really high-quality food — my wife loves cooking, and we’d focus on simple, clean meals (including options like low-carb / keto if that’s helpful)

For people who are already exploring things that seem to support them, there could also be optional access to:

  • meditation / relaxation practices
  • body-based therapies (like craniosacral)
  • sauna, cold exposure, and similar tools

Not a treatment program and not claiming to fix anything — more just a supportive environment where people can rest and, if they want, continue things that already seem to help them personally.

One reason we’re considering India is that it may be possible to offer a higher level of care and attention at a more accessible price compared to Europe or the US.

I imagine this would be most relevant for people who are stable enough to travel (for example working remotely, on a break, or already spending ~$1500–2000/month on living anyway) and who might benefit from being in a much calmer environment for some time. I estimate that providing a great service, food, room etc could be possible for 1300-2000usd a month.

I’d really appreciate honest input:

  • Would something like this be helpful for you at all?
  • What would you need to feel safe in a place like this?
  • What would be a red flag?
  • Would traveling to India (especially from a colder climate) feel worth it or not?

Just trying to understand what actually helps in real life.

Thanks 🙏

Would you travel to India for a 2–4 week recovery/reset experience?

Recently I did anotger 10-day meditation retreat, and it made a big difference for me — especially in terms of calming my nervous system and improving my focus. It made me realize how important environment, routine, and mental state are for recovery.

My wife (she’s Indian) and I are now considering moving to Goa and creating a small, quiet place where people could come for a few weeks to focus on recovery.

Very early idea — nothing built yet, just exploring.

The vision is something like:

  • a calm, natural environment (more like a farm / garden than a resort)
  • very small number of people (2–8max)
  • really high-quality food (my wife loves cooking — we’d focus on simple, clean meals, possibly low-carb / keto using the best ingredients we can find locally)
  • slow, structured routine (sleep, light movement, time outside, rest)

A big part of it would be helping people calm their nervous system — using things like meditation and brain retraining approaches, which have helped me personally a lot recently.

Alongside that, I’d also want to include different supportive tools and therapies such as:

  • craniosacral therapy
  • infrared sauna, cold plunges, red light
  • ozone, hydrogen water / inhalation, and similar “biohacking” approaches -possibly different local healers, psylocybin, Antibiotics and medicines like ivermectin are easily accessible and super cheap in India so people could stock up on those

Not as a medical clinic, but more as a place that combines a calm environment with different tools people can explore while focusing on recovery.

I’m trying to understand what would actually matter to people, so I’d really appreciate honest input:

  • Would you consider traveling somewhere like India for something like this?
  • What would make it worth it (or not)?
  • Ideas for additional treatments?
  • What would matter most during a 2–4 week stay?

Also realistically:

  • Would something in the range of ~$1300–2000/month feel reasonable for you?

Not selling anything — just trying to understand if this idea makes sense in real life and what people would actually look for.

Appreciate any thoughts 🙏
