[IWantOut] 25M Civil Engineer Norway -> USA/Australia

Hi everyone

(This is my second time posting here)

I’m hoping to come in contact with someone in the civil engineering/infrastructure and/or mining field. Please send me a dm if u want to help me out.

I’m a civil/infrastructure engineer from Norway with around 2 years of work experience, and I’m trying to figure out the most realistic way to work in either the United States or Australia.

Interested in mining/FIFO type roles and infrastructure/civil engineering jobs.

Thanks in advance for any insights

[IWantOut] 25M Civil Engineer Norway -> USA/Australia

Hi everyone,

I’m a civil/infrastructure engineer from Norway with around 2 years of work experience, and I’m trying to figure out the most realistic way to work in either the United States or Australia.

I’m not particularly interested in going back to school, so I’m mainly looking for pathways that allow me to transition directly into work. From what I understand, the H1B visa in the US is quite difficult due to the lottery system, so I’m exploring alternative options.

I’m also interested in mining and FIFO type roles, and I’ve heard that Australia has good opportunities in that area. However, I’m not sure how well my background in infrastructure/civil engineering would translate into mining-related work.

I’d really appreciate any advice on the most realistic pathways to working in the US or Australia with my background

Thanks in advance for any insights
