With the many reports of cloud sync issues in this sub and elsewhere after the latest update, which includes myself, I feel I need to get this out there to the wider community before more people are affected.

I have tested and noticed specifically after completing a day in the Dave the Diver event, an issue appears where the cloud save icon in the corner continuously spins, briefly stopping to show the checkmark, but then going right back to spinning, which causes issues like performance drops and potentially the perpetual "Sync Cloud Save" screen (as my save was already corrupted prior to this).

Specifically, these are the steps I took to test on an alternate account, along with my results:

1. Started the game and logged in to cloud save with Google,
2. Completed Days 1 and 2 of the Dave the Diver event. Progress appeared to save fine,
3. Closed and reopened the game,
4. Cloud save enters the cycle of loading/syncing endlessly

Uninstalling/clearing data and resyncing again seems to be a gamble on whether it actually fixes the problem or not. That being said, I've talked to multiple other players who also said they started having issues after completing a day in the Dave event, which leads me to believe there is an issue somewhere in the code of the event when it writes to the save that is somehow corrupting people's files (maybe due to the internal structure).

It's also worth noting that I tested and this issue doesn't happen on a fresh save file that was created this week, so it seems to be mostly people with older saves that are affected by this.

Another note: this event seems to share the same framework as last year's Green Game Jam 2025 event, which coincidentally is around the time I first started experiencing issues with my save (as I completed part of that event as well). So ultimately my conclusion (which could be wrong) is that although it could be the update itself, it seems like specifically there is something wrong with the code they're using for these evens that's causing this mess and I wouldn't be surprised if this is what has ruined mine as well as everyone else's cloud saves.

I've relayed as much of this information to the team as I possibly can and seeing if they can get it resolved. I mainly wanted to put this out there because I have had issues with my cloud save for well over half a year at this point and none of tickets I've made with support have gotten any closer to getting them fixed.

You can still get the Dave items through Demon Invasion if you have a Titan shark (as other people in Discord have found out), so it's not really a case of FOMO. Right now, I would generally avoid playing the Dave event to keep your save files safe. It's a shame that the first ever non-Ubisoft game collab had to be plagued with these issues, but ultimately it is what it is and I hope this helps at least some people keep their games preserved and issue-free.
