Dumb title, yes. But I in lala-land for believing that once the machine drops it will either be accompanied with a wider release of the OS, or more realistically, that it would result in people finding was to "extract" the OS from the device and spread it around the net?

My thinking is that if the SM is basically a super compact AMD pc and it comes with a compatible, functional SteamOS - then that same OS should run normally on any other AMD config, no?

Or is that too much copium?
