Stray snuck in for a snooze 6 months ago - Update
We’d been looking after a stray for close to a year. He’d occasionally come in and chill.
About 6 months ago I was bedroom bound with COVID and he showed up at 2AM yowling to get in. Partner was not ok with him being in the house overnight at the time so went down, gave him some attention and sent him on his way. Woke up to him snoozing beside me in bed as he’d climbed our back roof and came in through the window for a good night of zZz’s.
6 months later and he’s ours. Still a menace but an incredibly affectionate & needy boi.
Someone in our area had told us that he’s one of the local’s and his name is Johnny Whiskers. Turns out, it ain’t him but the name somewhat stuck and we shortened it to John.
We got a clean bill of health from the vet and now he spends most of his time begging for chicken or giving out that our legs aren’t open for him to lay between.
We can’t fully acclimate him to indoor life due to certain behaviours that are too hard to eliminate. He’s so used to being fully outdoors but spends most of his time with us chilling now. There’s comfort in the fact he now leads a much safer life than before.
