What's a good salary for a Junior dev in Bucharest?
Buna! I'm currently working in the UK, but I'm struggling to live paycheck to paycheck as a software engineer here. been getting worse lately, rent increased and food went up again. I'm lucky to not pay council tax (I'm also getting a master's so I'm exempt). My family lives with me (sister and mom + dog and cat) and we all speak English but my mom speaks Romanian as well (she's Romanian). I've never been to Romania in my life, my mom says it's a bad idea to move there but she hasn't been there since I was born and I'm 25 now. She thinks I should move to Germany or Republic of Ireland (I want to avoid them because of their cost of living and tough tech job market). I have been to Germany, didn't really find it cheaper to live there.
So basically what I'm asking is: If I were to pack up my bags and leave for Romania next month, what's a salary that could have me afford bills, food (maybe someone could look into halal meats prices?), rent, and some leisure like cinema and takeout from time to time. Basically to live comfortably with my family.
