Update: I have learned how to pet my step-cat!

I posted a while back trying to learn how to pet my step-cat, Lydia.

I received a bunch of good advice and even had some people reach out to me in private and walked me through how to pet Lydia.

The biggest hurdle to overcome was that I was a bit scared of accidentally making her upset or hurting her, then getting scratched. In the seven years I have been with my fiance (five of which living together), I haven't been scratched by her yet but admittedly the idea of being scratched by a cat scares tf out of me. I know that makes me sound like kind of a baby, but keep in mind I am allergic to cats. I take oral medication daily for her, but I don't know how my body would react to being scratched and I really don't wanna find out.

It took some trial and error, but I learned that I can actually put the same amount of pressure in her that I would my chiweenie. I'm still pretty nervous about scratching her cheek or behind the ears but I know I'll get there at some point. She does seem to enjoy the back and butt scritches though!

My relationship with Lydia has very much improved. I'm going to try to work on not being so scared of being scratched, (if anyone has any advice on that I'd be very greatful).
