Are AI-generated portraits getting too realistic to distinguish from real photos?

I’ve been experimenting with AI-generated portraits recently, and I’m starting to notice how close some outputs are getting to real photography, especially with improvements in lighting, skin texture, and depth of field.

With images like this, it feels like we’re crossing a point where casual viewers might not be able to tell the difference anymore.

At the same time, I’m wondering if there’s a downside, whether hyper-realism reduces the “creative identity” of AI art and makes everything look similar over time.

Curious what others here think:

– Do you see realism as the goal, or is stylization more important?
– Are we heading toward indistinguishable AI vs real images?
– What techniques are you using to keep outputs unique?
