period side effects, should i quit?
Hi everyone im posting to see other people’s experiences and advice with this situation.
Background:
I’m a teenager & have been on cabtreo gel and spironolactone for just over a year (1 yr 2 months) and it worked wonderfully for my acne (which my derm says is partly hormonal, im not sure honestly) but one persistent issue has been my periods. At around the 3 months mark my periods started changing and there was a 2 month period where I had my period/some form of bleeding (light bleeding by my norms) every day. My derm told me to stick it out until 4-6 months and check back in. After those 2 months, i just completely lost my period.
I saw my pcp and did bloodwork (FSH & LH, prolactin) but she said nothing (bloodwork wise) was off and to see a gyn & my derm.
At ~6 month mark I started having about 2-3 days of random super super light spotting and really inconsistent timing with the random spotting. My derm hasn’t been the most helpful & has told me that I either continue with the meds & see what happens or I visit a gynecologist (have been trying to get an appointment & got one before it ended up delaying until July of this year).
TLDR:
Been on spironolactone for just over a year, periods are completely gone with light spotting. Waiting on gyn appointment, seeking advice and similar experiences.
